Axle Production in Florida        » May 2002 «

We started an U.S. axle assembly line at DANA in Ohio, during the 2nd half of 1999, until that facility ceased its activities in May of 2002. It was then decided that we transfer the axle assembly to our own headquarters here in South Florida.

Today we build our own axles, mostly for New Flyer, under our own supervision and quality control. Being manufactured here in Pompano Beach, FL, our axles meet all requirements of the "Buy America" clause. In the meantime, we also have established an axle supply relationship with Neoplan USA. Furthermore, we are currently exploring further business activities with other North American bus builders.

We built over 1,000 axles in 2002, and we will build more than 1,400 axles in 2003, increasing that number to over 2,000 axles in 2004.

When MAN started its first bus activities in North America in 1978, our Director of Sales and Service of the MAN Axles and Automotive Division, Karl-Heinz Hilse, was one of the first to move with the new subdivision of MAN Commercial Vehicles to the United States.
On March 05, 2003, Karl-Heinz celebrated his 25th anniversary of coming to the U.S., in our facilities in Pompano Beach, FL.
